Dr. Marcus Walton

Biography

Marcus Walton is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Boston University. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Brown University. His academic journey also includes a Master’s degree from Brown University and a Bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis. Previously, Walton was a postdoctoral fellow at the Public Affairs Research Institute in Johannesburg, South Africa, and served as a lecturer at the University of the Witwatersrand. His research primarily focuses on democracy and protest in North Sub-Saharan Africa, with particular interest in the legacies of colonial and post-colonial rule as they define contentious politics in the 21st century.
