Biography

Marek Reformat is a Professor and Associate Chair for Graduate Studies in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta. He holds a Master's degree with honors from the Technical University of Poznan, Poland, and a PhD degree from the University of Manitoba, Canada. His early research focused on computer networks, particularly in performance measurement. He has delved into distributed computing during his PhD studies, emphasizing fault-tolerant systems and optimization methods. His primary interest lies in evolutionary computing applications for optimization problems. Since joining the Manitoba HVDC Research Centre in 1997, he has contributed to the development of simulation software. Marek has been with the University of Alberta since July 2000, where he is involved in academia and editorial responsibilities for various journals in computational intelligence. He is a member of the North American Fuzzy Information Processing Society (NAFIPS) and both the IEEE and ACM.
