Biography

Margaret M. Donovan is a Visiting Clinical Lecturer at Yale Law School. She holds a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law (2011) and a B.A. from Fordham University (2008). Prior to her academic career, Donovan served as an attorney at Koskoff & Bieder PC and as an Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Connecticut, where she focused on firearms prosecutions, domestic terrorism, and violent crime. She has also served six years as a Captain in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps, where she participated in multiple combat deployments to Iraq and Syria, providing legal advice on over 1,000 airstrikes and engagements. In addition, Donovan has experience advising military investigations into civilian casualties and alleged violations of the law of war. She has worked on disaster relief operations in Monrovia, Liberia, and spent time on the Korean peninsula, serving with the 101st Airborne Division and the 5th Special Forces Group. Donovan is involved in legal advocacy for veterans and is currently the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Veterans Legal Center.
