Biography

Margaret Gitau’s research focuses on water resources ecohydrologic engineering, including hydrologic and water quality modeling, as well as the fate and transport of critical contaminants such as sediment, nutrients, and pathogens. She investigates the associated ecological responses and the trends and impacts of land use, land management, and climate on water resources. Her work emphasizes sustainable water resources management and the development of computer and internet-based applications. In addition, Margaret serves as an Associate Editor for Transactions of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, Applied Engineering in Agriculture, and the Journal of Soil and Water Conservation. She is also a reviewer for several internationally recognized journals and is currently a member of the Program Committee for the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers’ Global Initiative Conference. Margaret received her Ph.D. in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from Penn State University in 2003.
