Biography

Margaret Hostetter is a prominent physician and researcher specializing in pediatric infectious diseases. She has served as the Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Yale University since 2002 and is the Physician-in-Chief at Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital. Over her career spanning more than 25 years, she has focused on the evaluation and treatment of immunocompromised patients and internationally adopted children, contributing significantly to studies of Streptococcus pneumoniae and Candida albicans. Prior to her role at Yale, she held the American Legion Heart Research Chair in Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota, where she led the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Her contributions to the field have been recognized through numerous awards, including the American Academy of Pediatrics Award for Excellence in Research and the Samuel Rosenthal Award for outstanding contributions to academic pediatrics.
