Margaret Moulson is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Brain Early Experiences (BEE) Lab at Toronto Metropolitan University. She holds a PhD in developmental psychology from the University of Minnesota and completed her postdoctoral training at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her research focuses on understanding the mechanisms underlying the development of social perception in both typical and atypical populations. Dr. Moulson combines behavioral measures such as head-mounted video recording and eye-tracking with brain-based measures like EEG to investigate how infants perceive faces and emotions. Her current research is supported by a Discovery Grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and an Early Researcher Award from the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation. The lab explores critical questions including how daily exposure to faces shapes infants' face processing abilities and how emotion perception in the first year of life relates to higher-level abilities such as social referencing and emotion regulation. Her selected publications reflect a commitment to enhancing the understanding of emotional development in infancy.
