Biography

Margaret Robinson is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at Dalhousie University. She is a bisexual two-spirit scholar Eski'kewaq from Nova Scotia, and a member of the Lennox Island Nation. Her academic work examines Indigenous New Wave and Mi’kmaw oral traditions while focusing on the representation of Indigenous sexual and gender minority people in creative works. Her research draws on critical, postcolonial, and queer theories, emphasizing intersectionality and wave feminism. Robinson's selected publications include works on ethical policy considerations in research involving Indigenous peoples, addressing colonial trauma in Mi’kmaw film, and examining the cultural continuity of Hip Hop within Indigenous communities. Additionally, she has received various awards, including the Canada Research Chair in Reconciliation, Gender, and Identity, with research funding from national councils and cultural research labs.
