Dr. Margherita Disertori

Biography

Margherita Disertori is a Professor at the Institute for Applied Mathematics at the University of Bonn. She specializes in mathematical physics, with a focus on the intersection of physics and mathematics. Her research domain encompasses boundary physics and various mathematical techniques influenced by physical problems, particularly in statistical mechanics and condensed matter physics. Disertori employs a variety of analytical and algebraic tools, including complex analysis and saddle point methods. Throughout her career, she has worked on quantum diffusion in random walks, random matrices, order/disorder transitions in classical statistical mechanics, constructive renormalization of interacting fermions, and non-commutative quantum field theory. Her academic journey includes a Diploma Thesis in Physics from the University of Trento, a PhD from École Polytechnique in Paris, postdoctoral positions at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton and ETH Zürich, and a faculty position at the University of Rouen before joining the University of Bonn in 2014.
