Dr. Margot Whitfeld

Biography

Margot Whitfeld is a Conjoint Associate Professor in the School of Clinical Medicine at the University of New South Wales, specializing in dermatology and global health. Her research interests focus on the epidemiology of scabies and the pathogenesis of rosacea, a common skin condition. She has conducted significant research on scabies prevalence in Fiji, including projects involving mass drug treatment regimes in isolated islands. Additionally, she has extensive experience in managing a skin clinic predominantly for HIV-infected individuals over the past 12 years, where she investigates immune restoration phenomena as they relate to skin conditions. Whitfeld is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists and is actively involved as the Head of the Department of Dermatology at St Vincent's Hospital in Sydney, as well as serving as a Visiting Dermatologist at the Skin Cancer Foundation in Darlinghurst and running a private dermatology practice in St Leonards.
