Biography

Margot Young is a Professor at the Peter Allard School of Law, University of British Columbia. She holds a BA from the University of British Columbia, an LLB from the University of Toronto, and two MAs from the University of Toronto and the University of California, Berkeley, respectively. Professor Young began her teaching career at the Faculty of Law at the University of Victoria in 2002 before moving to the University of British Columbia. Her research interests primarily focus on equality law theory, women's economic equality, urban theory, and local housing politics, particularly in relation to rights. She works at the intersections of environmental justice, social justice, feminism, and human rights. Additionally, Professor Young serves as a co-editor for the collection 'Poverty: Rights, Social Citizenship and Legal Activism' and is a co-Principal Investigator for the Housing Justice Project. She has extensive publication experience in various journals and books and is a member of several editorial boards, including the Canadian Journal of Women and the Law and the Review of Constitutional Studies. Professor Young is also an active participant in community organizations and collaborates with women's equality groups across Canada.
