Dr. Mari Lynn Drainoni

Biography

Mari-Lynn Drainoni is a Research Professor at Boston University within the Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine, specifically in the Infectious Diseases section. Her educational background includes a PhD from Northeastern University, an MEd from the University of Massachusetts Boston, and a BA from Tufts University. Dr. Drainoni’s research focuses on implementation science and qualitative research methods, particularly within safety net settings. She has emphasized the integration of research into clinical practice across various content areas such as infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C, and substance use. Through her numerous implementation studies, she has worked to improve health outcomes for at-risk populations by evaluating and integrating demonstration programs. Dr. Drainoni is passionate about mentoring junior faculty, particularly those from underrepresented groups, and strives to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion within academia. Additionally, she has experience in mental health services for individuals with substance use disorders and disabilities, informing her approach to research and community engagement.
