Biography

Mari Lundberg is a Professor of Physiotherapy at the University of Gothenburg, where she leads the Back Motion Research Group. With a degree in Physical Therapy obtained in 1992, she has extensive clinical experience in orthopaedics, primary health care, and sports medicine. Mari has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a PhD in Orthopaedics, further enriching her competencies in behavioral medicine and statistics. Since 2007, she has been engaged in teaching and supervision at the University of Gothenburg, also collaborating with Karolinska Institutet and the Swedish Institute of Health Sciences. She currently supervises four PhD students and co-supervises five, exploring various aspects of physical therapy and pain management. Her research interests include the mechanisms of pain, the impact of fear of movement, and person-centered approaches to rehabilitation for conditions like low back pain and hypermobility spectrum disorders. Her work contributes significantly to the understanding of pain and rehabilitation practices, aiming to improve patient outcomes through evidence-based interventions.
