Professor Dr. Maria Alonso Delpino

Biography

Maria Alonso-delPino is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microelectronics at Delft University of Technology. She received her degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC), Barcelona, Spain, in 2008, followed by a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, USA, in the same year. Alonso-delPino completed her Ph.D. in Signal Theory and Communications/Electrical Engineering at UPC in 2013. Subsequently, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Delft University of Technology from 2014 to 2015 and as a NASA postdoctoral fellow at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) from 2015 to 2016. She was also part of the Sub-millimeter Wave Advanced Technology group at JPL/NASA from 2016 to 2020. In 2020, she joined Delft University of Technology as an Assistant Professor. Her research interests include millimeter and submillimeter-wave heterodyne direct detection receiver technologies, antennas, and quasi-optical systems. Alonso-delPino has received numerous awards for her contributions to the field, including the IEEE Terahertz Science and Technology Paper Award in 2014, and has been recognized as an Outstanding Reviewer for the IEEE Transactions on Terahertz Science and Technology.
