Maria Arnelid is a postdoctoral qualitative and interdisciplinary researcher who explores the intersections of work, technology, and healthcare within the context of the changing welfare state. Her research focuses on how welfare services are organized and how policies, work practices, and technologies contribute to these changes. Arnelid has a background in Gender Studies, Social Anthropology, and Science and Technology Studies, which enriches her approach. Currently, she is working on a project that investigates the collaboration between healthcare and social care actors to meet the health and social care needs of individuals, particularly those with dementia. The project emphasizes the importance of participation in practice, examining how it is supported or hindered by various actors involved. Previously, her PhD research at the Department of Thematic Studies centered on the development and implementation of welfare technology in elder care, focusing on how these technologies intersect with ideals of care and sociotechnical imaginaries. Through qualitative, semi-structured interviews and ethnographic studies, she investigates how these imaginaries inform decision-making processes regarding welfare technology, particularly regarding the renegotiation of care practices.
