Dr. Maria Bäck

Biography

Maria Bäck is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health, Medicine and Caring Sciences, specialized in Physiotherapy at Linköping University. Her academic journey includes a PhD in Medicine from the Institute of Medicine at Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg. With a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from the same institution, she has built a career focusing on cardiovascular diseases, exercise, physiology, and behavioral medicine. Bäck has actively taught in the Physiotherapy program overseeing lectures, workshops, and examinations while supervising master's degree projects and PhD students. She has also contributed to various scientific journals as a reviewer and has been a member of several examination boards. Internationally recognized as an invited speaker, she has participated in numerous national and international congresses. Bäck has held prestigious roles, such as chair of the Swedish Council on Cardiovascular Nursing and serves on the board of the Association of Cardiovascular Nursing Allied Health Professions. Her research efforts have included securing funding from prominent organizations such as the Swedish Research Council and contributions towards advancing cardiac rehabilitation practices for physiotherapists.
