Dr. Maria Baffi

Biography

Maria Carolina Baffi is a Senior Lector in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Yale University. She earned her PhD in Latin American Literatures and Cultures from Columbia University in 2017. Baffi has taught at various institutions, including Columbia University, Northwestern University, and Southern Connecticut State University. Her current research focuses on a book project titled 'Avant-Garde Tabloids: Episodes of Cultural Reconfiguration in the Argentine Popular Press of the 1920s.' This project argues for a significant redefinition of notions of author, genre, 'work,' and the labor of writing, emphasizing the literary spaces as important loci of resistance and experimentation for Latin American women. Baffi's research interests encompass literary theory, avant-garde literary practices, poetry, poetics, short forms, and visual culture, particularly photography.
