Biography

Maria Bobroff holds an AB from Dartmouth College and a PhD in French from Duke University. Before joining the Department of Romance Studies at Boston University, she taught at Duke University and Guilford College in North Carolina. With a specialization in dix-huitièmiste training, Maria enjoys teaching French language at all levels and exploring Francophone literatures and cultures, as well as Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. In addition to her teaching, she has presented on language pedagogy and has published works focusing on eighteenth-century French theater and Francophone African women authors. Her research interests encompass material culture in eighteenth- and nineteenth-century France, particularly in relation to Orientalism and Imperialism.
