Dr. María Campo Comba

Biography

María Campo Comba is currently an Assistant Professor of EU Law at the Erasmus School of Law, Erasmus University Rotterdam. Her research focuses on the rebalancing of public and private interests from the perspective of EU competition law. She examines potential self-regulation agreements that seek to achieve public interests within the framework of EU competition law rules, particularly regarding sustainability objectives. Furthermore, her work addresses the challenges presented by digital markets to EU competition law, with a special emphasis on the power of big technology companies. Prior to this, María conducted her PhD research in private international law, particularly concerning the public/private challenges related to law applicable to cross-border contracts involving weaker contracting parties, such as consumers and employees. Her research aimed to balance the protection of these parties' interests with the higher interests at stake. Through her academic endeavors, she aspires to contribute to progressive legal thinking in competition law that aligns with current societal and market realities.
