Biography

Maria Cuartero Botia is an Associate Professor at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and a Master of Science in Advanced Chemistry from the University of Murcia, Spain. After obtaining her Ph.D. in 2014, she moved to the University of Geneva, Switzerland, to undertake postdoctoral research under Prof. Eric Bakker from 2014 to 2017. Since 2018, she has been developing her scientific career at KTH as a Marie Curie fellow and Assistant Professor. Maria has co-authored over 80 peer-reviewed papers, primarily in the fields of Analytical Chemistry and Electrochemistry. She was awarded the Early Career Analytical Electrochemistry Prize by the International Society of Electrochemistry in 2018. Her research focuses on the development of new fundamental concepts in electroanalysis, supported by prestigious grants from the European Research Council (ERC) and the Swedish Research Council (VR). Her research interests include environmental water electroanalysis, enzymatic (bio)sensors, wearable sensors for healthcare, and spectroelectrochemistry.
