Biography

Maria Cuartero Botia, born in Murcia, Spain, studied BSc in Chemistry and MSc in Advanced Chemistry at the University of Murcia. She obtained her PhD degree in 2014 and moved to the University of Geneva in Switzerland for her postdoctoral research under Professor Eric Bakker from 2014 to 2017. In 2018, she began her scientific career at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden, where she became a Marie Curie Fellow Assistant Professor. She is a co-author of more than 80 peer-reviewed papers, mainly in journals related to Analytical Chemistry and Electrochemistry. Maria received the Early Career Analytical Electrochemistry Prize from the International Society of Electrochemistry in 2018. Her research focuses on developing new fundamental concepts in electroanalysis and has been supported by prestigious grants including an ERC Starting Grant and a Swedish VR-Starting Grant. Her interests include environmental water electroanalysis, enzymatic biosensors, wearable sensors for healthcare, and spectroelectrochemistry.
