Biography

María Soledad Fernández Utrera is a Professor in the Department of French, Hispanic and Italian Studies at the University of British Columbia. Her scholarly interests concentrate primarily on Peninsular Contemporary Literature and Culture, with a focus on the avant-garde movement and its relation to literature, performance, film, and art within socio-political contexts. She has worked extensively on nineteenth-century Spanish narrative and poetry, as well as explored Latin American narrative and Golden Age literature.
