Biography

Maria Forsman is a Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor at Umeå University, specializing in children's rights, child law, social justice, human rights, and victimology. She has been recognized as a Distinguished Teacher within the university's pedagogical qualifications. Her research interests focus on the intersection of law and children's rights, having supervised doctoral projects related to child protection and advocacy for child victims. Forsman is actively involved in various international and European research projects that evaluate the social implications of legal systems on vulnerable groups, particularly in relation to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. She has served on multiple educational committees and councils, influencing curriculum development in both the Department of Law and the Department of Social Work.
