Biography

Dr. Gonzalez Corcia obtained her medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina in 2000 and completed a specialization in pediatrics at the R Gutierrez Children's Hospital, University of Buenos Aires in 2005. After receiving a research fellowship in pediatric cardiology, she continued training in pediatric cardiology and pediatric electrophysiology at Boston Children's Hospital, Harvard University. She developed the first pediatric electrophysiology program in Brussels, Belgium. Her doctoral thesis on Brugada syndrome in youth, mentored by Professor Pedro Brugada, was completed in 2017. From 2018 to 2022, Dr. Gonzalez Corcia served as the head of pediatric electrophysiology at the Royal Bristol Children's Hospital, managing cardiac rhythm disorders in the Southwest of the UK. During this period, she also completed a three-year master's in cardio-genomics at Imperial College London, establishing an international database for Pediatric Brugada Syndrome. She joined the Department of Pediatric Cardiology and the Research Center at CHU Sainte-Justine in September 2022. Her research aims to dissect the pathophysiological and genetic mechanisms of arrhythmias in children and optimize the treatment of various serious cardiac rhythm disorders using advanced biomedical techniques.
