Biography

Maria Gonzalez received her dental degree from Universidad Veracruzana in Veracruz, Mexico in 1996. Following her degree, she worked in private practice before entering a preceptorship program in prosthodontics at UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry. In 2002, she completed her residency and earned a Master of Science degree in Prosthodontics from UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry. Dr. Gonzalez has been a faculty member at the School of Dentistry since 2002 and is a recipient of the Dean's Teaching Excellence Award, which she has received four times (2003, 2005, 2006, 2019). In 2009, she was elected to faculty membership in the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society’s Mu Chapter at the School of Dentistry. She is actively involved in local, state, and national committees and has held various positions in organized dentistry. Currently, she chairs the American College of Prosthodontics Postdoctoral Education Committee. Her research interests primarily focus on complete dentures, fixed prosthodontics, and implant prosthodontics.
