María V. Jordán is a Senior Lector in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese and a Lecturer in the Department of History at Yale University. She trained in Spanish Literature History, having obtained her degrees from the University of Puerto Rico (Río Piedras) and the University of Minnesota (M.A., Ph.D.). Additionally, she has held fellowships from the Spanish Ministry of Culture and the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Her research interests are primarily in literature and cultural history, focusing on Early Modern Spain and Early Modern Latin America. Her work often concentrates on the prophetic tradition, dreams, and their relation to the history of the Hispanic world. Since joining the Yale faculty in 1998, she has taught courses such as "Women in the Hispanic World" and "Dissidence and Authority in Early Modern Spain." Between 2004 and 2008, she served as the Associate Master of Ezra Stiles College. Jordán has published significant works, including two books on dreams in Spanish literature from the Golden Age, and has contributed a series of articles and chapters to various academic publications.
