Maria G. Juenger is a professor and holder of the Austin Industries Endowed Faculty Fellowship in the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. Her teaching and research concentrate on materials used in civil engineering applications, particularly focusing on the chemical aspects of cement-based materials. She examines hydration chemistry in Portland cement and calcium sulfoaluminate cement, along with supplementary cementitious materials and chemical deterioration processes affecting concrete. Juenger was recognized with a Faculty Early CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation in 2005 and is a Fellow of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and the American Ceramic Society (ACerS). She serves as an associate editor on the editorial boards of Cement and Concrete Composites and Cement Concrete Research Journal. Juenger completed her B.S. in Chemistry at Duke University and obtained her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Northwestern University. Following her doctorate, she was a postdoctoral researcher in civil engineering at the University of California, Berkeley.
