Biography

Maria Liston is an Associate Professor in the Department of Classical Studies at the University of Waterloo. Holding a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee, she has extensive expertise in the field of classical archaeology and anthropology. Her research primarily focuses on the skeletal remains from archaeological sites in Greece, with a particular interest in mortuary practices and the lives of women in ancient societies. She has authored and co-authored numerous publications that explore topics such as early Iron Age cemeteries, the interpretation of skeletal evidence, and the complexities of archaeological findings related to warfare and health in the ancient Mediterranean.
