Biography

Maria O'Connell, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine and the Director of Research Evaluation for the Yale Program Recovery Community Health (PRCH). She has received extensive training in conducting research on recovery-related topics, including psychiatric advance directives, self-determination, choice, recovery-oriented services, and community-based housing programs. Dr. O'Connell is currently leading an NIMH R01 project examining the adoption and diffusion of person-centered, recovery-oriented practices in community mental health centers across the United States. Since joining Yale, she has provided oversight and quality assurance for collaborative research evaluation projects conducted by the PRCH since 2002 and has developed expertise in data management systems, statistical analysis, and program evaluation.
