Dr. Maria Park

Biography

Maria Park is an Associate Professor at Cornell University's College of Architecture, Art, and Planning. Her work critically examines the intersection of technology and perception through various mediums, including drawing, painting, and installation art. She engages in a collaborative practice that reflects her background in interdisciplinary art. Park's public art projects and site-specific installations explore the dynamics of human presence and agency in a media-reliant society, contributing to contemporary discourse on the role of art in public spaces. She has exhibited her work at esteemed institutions such as the Everson Museum of Art, Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Santa Rosa. Her contributions to public art include significant installations commissioned by the San Francisco Arts Commission and FIGMENT/AIANY. Park is involved with the Atkinson Center for a Sustainable Future and has received several accolades for her work, including grants from the Joan Mitchell Foundation and the Korea Arts Foundation of America. She has also served as the Director of Exhibitions at Cornell AAP and teaches various courses related to drawing and painting.
