Dr. Maria Prom

Biography

Maria C. Prom, MD, is an Assistant Professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, specializing in psychiatry. She serves as the Director at the Boston Medical Center/Boston University Medical Center Global Local Center for Mental Health Disparities. Her work primarily focuses on addressing mental health disparities both locally and internationally. Dr. Prom's research interests include the development of mental health care systems and services, particularly in under-resourced settings, integrated mental health care, and sociocultural psychiatry. Since 2010, she has collaborated globally in areas including research, education, and service delivery, with a current emphasis on developing integrated mental health care models and training for non-mental health professionals in Peru. Dr. Prom completed her MD at Vanderbilt University and has undergone extensive training, including a residency at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and a Consultation-Liaison Fellowship at MGH. She has received various awards for her research and contributions, reflecting her dedication to improving access to mental health care.
