Biography

Maria Riccardi holds a Master's in Educational Psychology and a Master of Arts in Art Therapy. She is a registered art therapist and a certified psychotherapist recognized by the Ordre des psychologues du Québec. Maria has implemented art-based programs in both clinical and educational settings, as well as within international corporations. She collaborates with local non-profit organizations to develop community-based art studio programs aimed at adolescents and adults facing challenges related to mental and physical health issues, immigration, and poverty. Maria teaches at Concordia University and has previously worked as a part-time professor at Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue. She participates in diverse research projects, conducting group sessions and workshops using the Expressive Therapies Continuum and transtheoretical framework for individuals grappling with personal and professional identity, life transitions, and anxiety. Maria is also involved in clinical research and has assumed a role as a board director for the Association des art-thérapeutes du Québec, contributing to the advancement of art therapy. Additionally, she exhibits her artwork in various settings, including schools, hospitals, and galleries, with a portfolio showcasing her work across multiple media that reflect her insights as an art therapist.
