Biography

Grisell Vargas is an associate clinical professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the University of Montreal. She is also an accredited professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology at the same faculty. Dr. Grisell Vargas-Schaffer is a specialist anesthesiologist in pain management at the Pain Clinic of CHUM and a part-time researcher at the Research Centre of the University Hospital Center of Montreal. She is the founder of the Chronic Pain Therapeutic Education Group at CHUM and has authored three edited books on pain management, six book chapters on the subject, and has 60 publications focused on pain treatment. Dr. Vargas is a member of the Quebec Network for Research on Pain and has led research projects examining attitudes towards opioid risk in chronic pain populations. Her expertise in anesthesiology and pharmacology complements her dedication to improving the understanding and treatment of pain.
