Biography

Maria Vlasiou is an Associate Professor at Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands, and a Research Fellow at the European research institute EURANDOM. She serves as a board member of the Dutch Women in Mathematics Network and the European Women in Mathematics Committee. Her research interests encompass stochastic processes, particularly in performance and stochastic processing in interacting networks, with current projects focusing on energy networks, high-tech manufacturing, and insulin signaling networks. She studies Lévy processes, perturbation analysis, heavy-tailed risk models, and proportional fairness in bandwidth-sharing networks. Prof. Vlasiou has supervised six PhD theses and has served as an associate editor for four academic journals, contributing to over 50 refereed papers and receiving multiple research grants exceeding €3.7 million from more than ten scientific foundations and organizations. She was co-recipient of the paper award at ICORES 2013 and received the UPS George D. Smith prize from INFORMS.
