Biography

Marialejandra Moreno Mantilla is a Lecturer in International Criminal Law at the University of Amsterdam, where she is a member of the Amsterdam Center for Criminal Justice and part of the teaching team for the International and Transnational Criminal Law LL.M. programme. She has lectured on topics including jurisdiction and cooperation in criminal matters related to transnational criminal law. Marialejandra has served as programme coordinator and thesis coordinator, in addition to co-coordinating the Criminal Justice Clinic, where she supervised clinical research projects in collaboration with the Colombian Special Jurisdiction for Peace. She has also coached the University of Amsterdam’s ICC-IBA Moot Court Competition team. Prior to her position at UvA, Marialejandra was the Coordinator of the Nuremberg Summer Academy and served as a Project Officer at the International Nuremberg Principles Academy. Additionally, she has assisted in various capacities at the Defence for the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and the Chambers of the International Criminal Court. Marialejandra has extensive experience in capacity-building and has worked with civil society organizations such as the Case Matrix Network and the Centre for International Law Research and Policy (CILRAP-CMN), mentoring legal practitioners to ensure the implementation of international criminal law standards at the domestic level. She studied Law and International Relations at Universidad del Rosario in Colombia and holds an Advanced Master’s degree in Public International Law, specializing in International Criminal Law from Leiden University in The Netherlands.
