Biography

Marian Krawczyk obtained her PhD from the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Simon Fraser University in Canada in 2015. Her research focuses on ethnographic studies of hospital palliative care specialists and patients, emphasizing the collectively negotiated process of dying within increasingly complex health systems. Before joining the University of Glasgow, she held several post-doctoral positions in partnership with Trinity Western University, the Centre for Health Evaluation and Outcome Sciences, and the Canadian Frailty Network. She also has a Master's degree in Communication from Simon Fraser University and a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology from the University of British Columbia. In addition to her academic career, she has worked as an independent research consultant and has held various coordinator positions on large multi-year health research initiatives. Her research interests include Palliative End-of-Life Care, Prognostic Uncertainty, Organizational Culture in Hospitals, Total Pain, and the methods of Ethnographic and Qualitative Research.
