Biography

Mariana Farah is an Associate Professor and Director of Choral Studies at the Mead Witter School of Music, University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she conducts the UW-Madison Concert Choir and teaches graduate choral conducting courses. Before joining UW-Madison, she was the Associate Director of Choral Activities at the University of Kansas. A native of Brazil, Dr. Farah holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas, a Master’s degree from the University of Iowa, and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Under her leadership, the UW-Madison Concert Choir has been selected to perform at numerous prestigious events, including the 2026 ACDA Midwestern Divisional Conference and the 2025 ACDA National Conference. Her research interests focus on Brazilian choral music, particularly the a cappella works of Ernani Aguiar. Dr. Farah is also an active clinician and has presented at various national music conferences, including the American Choral Directors Association. Additionally, she serves as a board member of the National Collegiate Choral Organization and has held leadership positions within the ACDA Southwestern Division.
