Biography

Mariangela Lavanga is an Associate Professor at the Erasmus School of History, Culture, and Communication, specializing in Cultural Economics and Entrepreneurship within the Department of Arts and Culture Studies at Erasmus University Rotterdam. She is the academic coordinator for the Minor in Fashion Industry and has been involved in the interdepartmental academic minor since its inception in the academic year 2016-17. Her research interests include sustainable urban development and the cultural creative industries, with a specific focus on the sustainability transition in fashion. She is involved in several Horizon Europe projects and has co-led various European projects aimed at promoting circular economy practices in the fashion industry. Having a rich international experience, Mariangela has worked at esteemed institutions such as the University of Amsterdam and IULM University in Milan. She holds a PhD in Communication Economics and a Master's in Urban Management from Erasmus University. Mariangela has numerous publications and is an active keynote speaker and guest lecturer.
