Biography

Marianne Karlsson is a Full Professor of Design and Human Factors in the Department of Industrial Materials Science at Chalmers University. Her research aims to develop knowledge about the multi-dimensional relationship between people and technical artifacts. Central themes in her work include methodologies for eliciting user requirements—both functional and affective—for new technical products and systems, as well as understanding the prerequisites for individuals’ adoption of new technology, particularly in the context of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and its effects on everyday life. Additionally, she focuses on the development of new technical solutions that support sustainable behavior. In 2015, she was elected as a member of the Royal Society of Arts and Sciences in Gothenburg.
