Biography

Marianne Larsen is a Professor Emerita at Western University’s Faculty of Education, where she has developed a distinguished career as a leading researcher in comparative international education. With a Ph.D. from the University of London, her scholarly work is dedicated to understanding the intricacies of internationalization in higher education. Larsen's interests encompass a wide array of topics, including international service learning, the internationalization of teacher education, and the development of research partnerships in global contexts. Recognized for her contributions to policy analysis frameworks, she has critically evaluated K-12 educational policies affecting teachers’ identities and the broader educational landscape. Throughout her career, she has published numerous works, including a comprehensive book entitled 'Internationalization of Higher Education: Analysis, Spatial Networks, Mobilities Theories'. Larsen's recent collaborations involve partnership with universities in Kenya to strategize internationalization efforts. Beyond academia, she has been active in community service through founding the Johansen-Larsen Foundation, which focuses on improving the lives of marginalized children and at-risk animals.
