Biography

Marianne M. Sloet van Oldruitenborgh-Oosterbaan is a Professor at Utrecht University, specializing in equine internal medicine. She graduated cum laude from Utrecht University in 1982 and obtained her PhD in 1990 with a thesis on heart rate and blood lactate in exercising horses. She began her career in part-time general practice while also working in the Department of Large Animal Medicine at Utrecht University. In 1996, she became the head of the equine internal medicine clinic and currently serves as an associate professor in the Department of Equine Sciences. Marianne is an invited Diplomate of the European College of Equine Internal Medicine, where she has held several leadership positions, including president and past-president. Her roles extend beyond academia; she is a veterinary advisor to the Dutch National Equestrian Federation and actively participates in international horse shows as a FEI Veterinary Delegate. Her research interests include equine exercise physiology, sports medicine, dermatology, and emerging diseases. In addition to her professional work, Marianne enjoys family time, wildlife photography, scuba diving, and pleasure riding.
