Dr. Marie Claude Geoffroy

Biography

Marie-Claude Geoffroy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at McGill University and holds a Canada Research Chair in Youth Suicide Prevention. She is a clinical psychologist whose research focuses on the epidemiology of suicide among children, adolescents, and young adults, aiming to identify modifiable risk and protective factors, particularly in early life, to inform prevention efforts. Her work spans the full continuum of suicide prevention, mental health promotion, prevention, and intervention. Dr. Geoffroy leads research initiatives with the Papageno Research Team, which brings together researchers dedicated to advancing suicide prevention efforts. She collaborates with partners in Quebec and Canada to engage young people, ensuring their voices are heard in mental health research. In addition to her research, Dr. Geoffroy is committed to raising awareness about youth mental health, actively communicating her scientific findings to diverse audiences through writing, infographics, podcasts, and films.
