Marie-Jeanne Kergoat is a geriatrician and the head of the specialized medicine department at the Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal (IUGM). She is also a clinical researcher at IUGM and director of the external cognition clinic at the facility. Dr. Kergoat is a full professor and director of the specialized residency program in geriatrics at the Université de Montréal, as well as the director of the network program of the four medical faculties of Quebec. In 2013, she was named Professor of the Year for the Department of Medicine at the Université de Montréal. She is a member of the national ethics committee on aging and of the intersectoral table of integrated university health networks in aging for the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS). Dr. Kergoat leads the working committee on "the Person-Centered Approach for Older Adults in Hospital Settings," for which she received the Persillier-Lachapelle Prize for medical leadership from the MSSS in 2012. She is also the director of the Regroupement des Unités de courte durée et des services hospitaliers de gériatrie du Québec (RUSHGQ), a community of practice for geriatric professionals and managers in Quebec hospitals. Dr. Kergoat is the President of the Centre d’excellence en Santé Cognitive of the Université de Montréal.
