Biography

Marie-Thérèse Chicha is a professor at the School of Industrial Relations at the Université de Montréal, where she also holds the Chair in Ethnic Relations. Dr. Chicha earned her PhD in Economics from McGill University in Montreal. Her research focuses on systemic discrimination in employment, salary equity policies, the devaluation of immigrants' qualifications, and the integration and employment policies for immigrants. Through a qualitative and intersectional perspective, she investigates the different actors in the labor market including businesses, institutions, NGOs, and individuals from potentially discriminated groups. She emphasizes international comparative approaches and has discussed the integration of women, visible minorities, Indigenous peoples, and persons with disabilities into the workforce. Dr. Chicha has published extensively on these issues and received the Acfas Pierre-Dansereau award for social engagement, among other recognitions.
