Marie Beauséjour focuses primarily on the epidemiology of musculoskeletal health services utilization. Her research aims to better understand the factors associated with the use of specialized services and to support the development and evaluation of new intervention methods. Her doctoral thesis in public health at the University of Montreal analyzed referral patterns in pediatric orthopedics for young patients suspected of having scoliosis in Southwestern Quebec. This research is critical to ensure appropriate and timely care for these young patients, who often receive late diagnoses in the absence of screening programs. Beauséjour completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Charles-Le Moyne Hospital Research Center in intervention evaluation and worked on developing a triage and prioritization model for patients in pediatric orthopedic clinics, collaborating with the Shriners Hospital for Children. She is also interested in improving early treatments with braces as well as developing better-targeted treatments based on risk factors for patients with scoliosis. Before joining the musculoskeletal diseases and rehabilitation research team, she held a research associate position since 1999, coordinating activities for the Quebec Scoliosis Network and overseeing scientific coordination for the Scoliosis Research Society's International Task Force on Scoliosis Screening.
