Biography

Marie-Andrée Bruneau obtained her MD and master's degree in Biomedical Sciences from the Université de Montréal in 2001, specializing in Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry. Since 2013, she has been a certified Geriatric Psychiatrist and has held the position of clinical professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Addiction at the Université de Montréal. She also serves as the associate director of the department for the geriatric psychiatry division. Bruneau has been instrumental in establishing North America's first French-speaking subspecialty program in geriatric psychiatry and is a leading researcher at the IUGM Research Centre. Her clinical and research interests focus on psychiatric disorders associated with Parkinson's disease, behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia, and late-life psychiatric presentations. Having previously worked at CHUM as a consultant for neurology, neurosurgery, and geriatrics, she currently leads a team addressing psychological and behavioral symptoms of dementia at the Institute of Geriatrics of Montreal, engaging in multiple projects with the MSSS to improve clinical practice and training.
