Dr. Marie Stenseke

Biography

Marie Stenseke is a full professor in Human Geography at the University of Gothenburg since 2011. Her research focuses on biodiversity, nature conservation, landscape management, and the social science perspective. She leads a research group on nature-society relations with a landscape perspective within the Human Geography Unit. Stenseke is actively involved in various national and international research projects and programs, fostering knowledge communication and serving in special commissions such as a Fellow of the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry. She has been appointed as Director of the Interdisciplinary Academy at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in 2022 and participates on advisory boards regarding environmental protection and biodiversity. Stenseke has published extensively on topics including rural land use planning, nature conservation management, and public participation in landscape research. She is a seasoned contributor to scholarly journals and conferences, promoting interdisciplinary approaches to sustainability and biodiversity.
