Biography

Marieke Dubelaar is a professor of criminal law at Radboud University with a focus on criminal conflict resolution. She is the chair of the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology and one of the two Nijmegen leaders of the multidisciplinary research program on Conflict Resolving Institutions, collaborating with Utrecht and Leiden universities. Dubelaar teaches both formal and substantive criminal law and is involved in the Study Center for Court Administration, where she educates judges and prosecutors on criminal law evidence. Her research expertise includes criminal conflict resolution, evidence and truth-seeking, the position of witnesses and experts, the right to a fair trial, regulation of investigations, responses to procedural violations, courtroom organization, and the role of judges, as well as the effects of digitalization on the criminal process. Her work is characterized by an interdisciplinary approach, melding insights from various disciplines. Additionally, since June 2015, she has served as a substitute judge at the Amsterdam Court of Appeal and has held various editorial roles in legal publications.
