Marieke Hartman has a background in Public Health and particular interest in bridging the gap between public health research and practice. She completed her Master of Science in Public Health at Maastricht University and subsequently worked as a research assistant in her hometown Rotterdam at the Public Health department of Erasmus MC. Her PhD project focused on health promotion and weight-gain prevention in a multiethnic population, representing a significant Academic Collaboration with Public Health GGD Amsterdam and AMC-UvA. This collaboration underscored the importance of bridging research, practice, and policy. After advancing to the final stage of her PhD, Marieke was invited to a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, where she developed training internet tools aimed at promoting evidence-based practices and adapted programs for new populations and settings. After spending 2.5 years in the USA, she returned to the Netherlands to continue her research while also embracing her passion for teaching. Since January 2017, she has been actively tutoring and now serves as a lecturer in the Department of Life Sciences at Erasmus University College, which aligns with her interdisciplinary background and affection for multicultural environments.
