Biography

Marijn Kuijpers is an Assistant Professor at the Donders Centre for Neuroscience at Radboud University, specializing in Neurobiology. His research group, Kuijpers lab, investigates membrane trafficking events and how organelles contribute to synaptic (dys)function. Utilizing both rodent and human neuron cultures as model systems, Kuijpers combines advanced imaging techniques with biochemically focused approaches to address complex cell biological questions from multiple perspectives. Currently, the group's main projects include understanding membrane trafficking processes that underpin presynaptic proteostasis, exploring the architectural role of the neuronal endoplasmic reticulum, and studying early synaptic changes associated with Parkinson's disease. He has been awarded several significant research grants, including an ERC Starting Grant and funding from the Lundbeck Foundation. Kuijpers also participates in collaborative projects aimed at advancing the understanding of molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration.
