Biography

Marika Franklin was awarded her PhD from La Trobe University, Melbourne in 2019. Prior to her appointment at the Centre for Workforce Futures, she worked as a researcher at the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales, as well as in the not-for-profit sector. Her research focuses on the intersections of sociology and health, particularly how capital shapes agency and opportunities for living. Currently, she is engaged in an ARC Discovery Project examining the demographic and social dimensions of migrant ageing and wellbeing in Australia, which is led by Professor Taksa. Marika is also a member of the Australian Sociological Association (TASA).
